Newborn Baby Photography in Derby and Nottingham

I am based just outside Kirkby In Ashfield, near Mansfield and I provide newborn baby photography for my lovely clients that live in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicester & South Yorkshire.

Choosing a professional and experienced newborn baby photographer is incredibly important. You only get one chance to get the sleepy newborn images because after baby is a few weeks old they will start to become more alert and wake up more easily when moved. This means that it may not be possible to get the cute sleepy poses you love if baby is over a few weeks old.

Please be aware of inexperienced photographers who may not know about newborn safety. You may end up being less than happy with the end result and even worse putting your precious newborn in danger by letting an inexperienced photographer handle and pose your baby.

I offer 3 different types of Newborn session, more information on each session type is available at the bottom of this page. They briefly comprise :-

PURE Newborn baby photography session – £259

A more relaxed, not so posed session, focusing more on baby and family images photographed on PURE whites. Close up details shots also included.
1-2 hour session
15 x high resolution digital Images (additional images available priced at £10 per digital image file)

Wrapped newborn baby photography session – £259

Wrapped/swaddled images, close up details shots. Using props, different colours and textures/fabrics.
1-2 hour session

Add in sibling and/or family shots for an additional £50. This Includes an additional 2 x digital images, making 12 in total if you choose this option.

Full posed newborn baby photography session – £359

A full session including, posed, wrapped/swaddled, close up details shots, naked and family shots. Using props, different colours and textures/fabrics.
2-4 hour session
25 x high resolution digital Images (additional images available priced at £10 per digital image file)
12″ x 12″ framed print

Pure newborn baby photography session – more information

If you prefer the more natural approach to newborn photography then this is the session for you. PURE sessions are all about family and non posed/natural images. No stress, no fuss, just photographing you and your most precious baby, whatever they are doing, asleep or awake. Capturing their little details and the love between you and your little one.

The PURE session is suitable for babies at any age. We use my white room set-up and the session is mainly using white to emphasise the purity of your newborn baby. Please see the gallery below to see the type of images that I would take during this session. This session can include sibling and family shots too.

15 x high resolution jpeg images & your favourite as a 12″ x 12″ print, mounted in a beautiful frame. Extra digital images are priced at £10 per image file or blocks of 15 images for £100.
Additional framed prints are also available.

1-2 hour session using my white room set-up.

Wrapped Newborn baby photography session – more information

If you love the images of babies wrapped up and all snuggly then this is a great option. The session lasts around 1-2 hours, this is dependant on how much baby feeds during the session along with how settled they are too.

The session gives you wrapped shots of baby in a variety of props and backdrops, please see the gallery below for the type of images I take during a wrapped mini session. I also take close up macro shots of baby’s cute little features, like hands, nose and lips. I ask you in advance for your preference of colours, 2-3 co-ordinating colours work well. Or I can recommend a colour scheme if you prefer. I have lots of props, headbands, hats, bonnets fabrics, textures and colours that I use to create beautiful images of your baby. Babies LOVE being swaddled up as it is comforting to them, they settle well when wrapped. It partially recreates the conditions in the womb where they have spent the past 9 months so it is of great comfort to them.

Full posed newborn baby photography session – More Information

These are aimed at achieving sleepy poses (where possible). Best suited to babies that are 5-14 days old but this can be slightly older depending on how sleepy baby is and if they were born early.

During this type of session we would generally start with wrapped shots to also get baby to sleep, we then move on to the cute naked poses of baby using a variety of backdrops, props, bonnets, headbands, fabrics and textiles. I also take close up macro shots of baby’s cute little features, like hands, nose and lips. I ask you in advance for your preference of colours, 2-3 co-ordinating colours work well. Or I can recommend a colour scheme if you prefer.

These sessions can be done for older babies too but the older baby is the less chance we have of achieving the sleepy shots. . Older babies tend to produce some awake shots but also some sleepy shots too which of course is lovely.

The baby whisperer

Whilst offering newborn baby photography I have many techniques to get babies to sleep. This is from having years of experience as a newborn photographer and mum to three children. Some of my clients call me the baby whisperer!

The best age for newborn baby photography is when they are between 5 and 14 days old. I strongly advise booking early so that you avoid disappointment due to limited session availability. You can book a session with me for one week after your due date with a view to moving the date if baby was early or late. I can book you in for a provisional session date from your 12 week scan onwards. If you have not managed to book in a session before baby has been born, please do check with me because I do sometimes have last minute availability.

Putting you in the picture

Your newborn baby photography session will be a special milestone in your baby’s life. I create a calm and peaceful environment during our time together so that you can relax during your session. I include sibling and family images in some of my sessions. Please let me know in advance if you would like family and/or siblings images too. I like these to take place at the beginning or end of the session meaning we can have the remaining time focusing on your baby alone.
